A superb quality piece, this Diamond is quite possibly one of the first Brilliant Cut Diamonds produced.

Prior to the Brilliant Cut which was first created in the early 20th Century, Diamonds were cut with an emphasis on weight. As technology advanced jewellers began to recognise the importance of fire and light refraction and began modifying the standard Old European Cut to identify the correlation between symmetry, facets, depth and the maximum sparkle a diamond could achieve.

The Brilliant Cut was born. In it's early incarnation the sequence of the facets is marginally different, hence the name Old Brilliant Cut. It's really a landmark in our societies notion of "the perfect diamond."

This particular Diamond is approximately 1 Carat in weight and has a colour of approximately H. It's clarity is amazing, we personally couldn't find a flaw in it but as we prefer to air on the side of caution we have graded it approximately VVS1.

Later re-set in Platinum (hence its Estate listing) it is in superb condition.
