One
of my personal favourites. Almandine Garnets
were particularly popular during Queen Victoria's reign
and could command higher prices than the more common
Pyrope usually found in early Bohemian jewellery. However,
they have all but disappeared from view over the last
100 years and are hardly ever seen in modern jewellery.
It's
the contrast between this beautiful "antique"
stone and the ultra-modern setting which really make
this such an iconic and desirable item.
Set
in chunky 18 Carat White Gold with
beautifully ribbed shoulders, the garnet is flanked
by two Brilliant Cut White Diamonds (.23
Carats,) which are set flush with the gold. The large
Cushion Cut Almandine Garnet boasts
a distinctive purple hue and weighs 3.2 Carats.
It is in perfect condition.
A
chunky and bold piece which screams individualism and
quality.
