Description
Fabulous
Victorian ring, set in Silver
and featuring a central Ruby of superb quality
surrounded by eight beautiful Rose Cut Diamonds.
The
most highly prized Rubies are pinky red in colour, and this
is the perfect example of such a gem. With a Carat weight
of approximately .75 Carats the Ruby is surrounded
by Rose Cut Diamonds with a combined spread of .80
Carats. They range from VVS-SI clarity,
although colour is virtually impossible to judge accurately
due to the Cut of the stones.
Typically
the stones are set in Silver to enhance their colour, although
the under bezel and shank are Gold (unmarked
but almost certainly 15 or 18 Carat.) The shoulders are heart
shaped and inset with a delicate fleur-de-lys, while the under
bezel appears to have once contained a window panel in which
a lock of hair or small photograph could be contained. The
small oval space remains but unfortunately the tiny removable
window has been lost.
This piece is in stunning
condition, and is a fabulous quality piece, probably dating
from the Mid 19th Century.
It is a UK size S, US approx 9.25
