Description
This
is a really unusual piece. Circa 1925 we
purchased this from a lady who had inherited it from her aunt.
Apparently her aunt had worn the ring frequently, which was
immediately evident in the thin shank. The lady understood
the ring required some restoration work but as she wore it
only very occassionally she decided to sell.
Since
then, we have checked the setting thoroughly and have had
to replace the old 18 Carat Gold shank with
a new one. The setting and the shoulders have remained completely
original, and the ring is now in excellent condition.
The
unique hexagonal setting features four main Old Brilliant
Cut Diamonds and four smaller diamonds set into the
corners. It is believed to be Platinum and
is decorated with millegrain (which is an expensive process
and only used on high quality items) with smaller millegrain
edging.
The
setting is typically flat and sits flush to the finger, however
the plaque is raised slightly on a small gallery to allow
light to pass through the diamonds. The total diamond weight
is approximately 0.75 Carats and the diamonds
are beautifully white and clear.
It
is a UK size L, US approx 5.5
Price:
£825.00 (approx $1,300.00 USD)
