Description
Statement
1950's cocktail ring boasting a gorgeous
Teal coloured Tourmaline flanked by bold
Diamond set leaf design shoulders.
Designs
such as this were really made popular by stars such as Elizabeth
Taylor who was famous for her dazzling Cartier and Bvlgari
jewels. The austerity of the post war years bred a desire
for the ostentatious and flamboyant, a revolt led by Hollywood
which dressed its stars to excess; dripping in sparkling gems
and audacious jewellery. Soon everyone wanted bold statement
pieces, and whilst many were satisfied with costume jewellery,
those who could afford it chose items made from valuable metals
and eye-catching precious gems - such as in the case of this
particular piece.
This
is a beautifully made item; the large Tourmaline (approximately
5 Carats in weight) is an unusual Teal Green colour
and rectangular step cut. Each shoulder is set with lovely
white, clear diamonds which have a total weight of approximately
.50 Carats and are Brilliant Cut.
The leaf design shoulders terminate in an elegant and slender
triple split shank which balances the size of the setting
perfectly.
All
set in 18ct White Gold it is a unique and
wearable item which remains in superb condition despite its
age.
It
is a UK size T1/2, US approx 10. (can be resized)
