Description
Beautiful
Scottish Agate bracelet, featuring an unusual
belt design and set in engraved Sterling Silver.
Heavily
influenced by Queen Victoria's great affection for Scotland
and the passionate works of Sir Walter Scott, the popularity
of Scottish "Pebble" jewellery
began around 1848.
Buckles were a favoured design, and the use
of Agate is also typical of this genre. However, unlike other
examples which feature earthy reds and yellows, this particular
bracelet is set with Blue Lace Agate, the
best example of which has been carved for the elaborate buckle.
It
is a superb quality piece which remains in
excellent condition, certainly the best example
of Scottish jewellery we have found.
When laid flat it measures 9.5" in length, although it
has a minimum of 7" and maximum of 8.5" when worn.
