Description
Highly
influential to the Art Nouveau movement,
Murrle-Bennet & Co was founded in 1884
and specialised in high quality Silver and Gold Jewellery:
some of which was sold through the famous London Jewellers,
Liberty & Co.
Mounted in 15 Carat Gold and stamped MB
to the reverse it's bold yet elegant design typifies the Murrle-Bennet
style together with the use of naturalistic Seed Pearls
and cabochon stones. Turquoise Matrix (turquoise
embedded with it's parent rock) was a particularly popular
stone during this period because its irregular, natural appearance
suited the non-traditional styles.
The pure appearance of these gems; their
raw, unaffected and un-enhanced beauty contrasts beautifully
with the obvious craftsmanship of the Gold.
A perfect blend of natural and man made creation.
In perfect condition, the pendant measures
approx 2.25" in length and features four Seed Pearls
Surrounding a central Turquoise Matrix. A large irregular
Pearl is suspended from the bottom. Circa 1910.
